If you’ve been reading this blog recently, you know I’ve been working on a quilt I designed to showcase one of the Little House on the Prairie fat quarter fabric bundles from 2015. Last week, I finished up the quilt top, and now I’m working on the quilt backing. And I decided on a name for the quilt finally – Prairie Life!
This quilt has been quite a journey for me. It’s the first quilt I designed using Electric Quilt 8, and the first time I ever contacted EQ about fabric that I wanted to use. They were super nice about it, and digitized the fabrics for me for free. Anyway, I had a bunch of fabric left over from the top, so I decided to create nine patch blocks in a checkerboard pattern. I created this in EQ8 as well.
It’s a super simple design, but it will be a second way to showcase these beautiful fabrics. I’ve been working on it a little at a time. It’s a nine patch, so it goes together pretty quickly, when I have time for it. Sadly, this week has been very busy, so there’s been less time to get this done. The last two days of the month and the first three days of the next month suck a LOT when you work in Finance.
I’m also digging through my scraps for the Lori Holt Bee Patriotic quilt along which starts this week. I have a lot of fabric from the American Legacy line that I plan to use, and I considered bringing in some scraps to expand the color palette a little, but at this point, I’m up in the air about it. I really wanted to be in a position to get started on this quilt this week, but I just don’t think that’s going to happen. But I do love this color palette. I will use a lot of cream to keep it from being so heavy. And if I could find a lighter blue that would work with this, I think that would be great.
What are you working on right now?
