Back in the Saddle

Hello! Welcome back to TexasQuiltGirl! I’m back, we’re moved in and my studio is better than ever, IMO. Are you interested in a tour? Well, let’s go!

This is the view from the doorway. It’s not a large room by any stretch of the imagination – about 16×11 – but it’s space well used, I think. Right as you walk in the room, you see my cutting table, made from two Ikea Hemnes dressers, back to back.

To the right of the door, I have my stacked IKEA Kallax units. This houses some of my WIPs, my scrap collection, or at least part of it, magazines & books, quilt patterns, fabrics, and spare irons, to name a few things.

Next to that, I have two IKEA Billy bookcases (are you sensing a theme here yet?). My fabric collection lives here, as well as my Accuquilt Cubes, and some miscellaneous items. Just to the left of that, my Container Store elfa drawers, which holds my sewing machine parts and such.

Next to that is my Horn of America Quilters Dream table.

Across from that, on the other side of the room is another IKEA Kallax set up. I have packaged batting, pillow forms, my serger and cover stitch machines, more fabric and a host of other items here.

Notice the IKEA Nordgren table? I have big plans for that but I’m not ready to reveal them just yet.

Here’s another view of the table.

I have plans for this entire area. One of them involves hanging my Excelsior poster …

Were you wondering where my tv is in the room?

You’ll notice I have some of my rulers hanging on the end of the cutting table, and I intend to hang my pegboard above the cutting table. I also intend to put my tv above my Horn sewing table, on a telescoping arm. Chris replaced his 43″ tv in his office with a 55″ tv, so I’m taking the 43″ and mounting it in my studio. I like to watch YouTube videos while I quilt, so I’m excited about this.

And we’ve come full-circle, back to the door. Here you see my thread chest, which also has my Bernina 435 sitting on it, for now.

It’s not a big space, but it’s mine, and I love it. It’s also still very much a work in progress, like the rest of the house, but really, isn’t that the way it always is when you move?
