I rarely say anything like this, but 2024 can show itself out right now. This has been the year of What the Actual Hell, Man?!? I didn’t get nearly enough done in my studio and the weather has not been kind to us.
In fact, I didn’t finish a single project this year that I can remember. How sad is that? Honestly, I think this is the first year I didn’t finish something, but I still have a little hope. My Little House on the Prairie quilt is nearly quilted. If I can finish that and get it bound, it will be one project done, and I’m going to try to get it done before Tuesday night. Maybe then I won’t feel like a total slacker.
Weather
This year, we have been through a derecho, a hurricane and a tornado, all in the space of seven months. We lost power with the derecho and the tornado, but not the hurricane. Go figure. It was sheer luck, though, because three days after the hurricane came through, the whole home generator that we installed because he derecho left us without power for several days broke down. The power went out for some houses in our neighborhood for about 30 hours after the tornado yesterday, ours included. Fortunately, the generator is working, and kept us going while the power was out.
But y’all, I’m over this year. I never, ever say that the next year will be better, because it rarely is, and things just keep happening, but I’m hoping for a better year in 2025.
So sadly, this year isn’t much of a recap. It’s more of a “I hope the worst is over” post. Instead, here are some plans for next year.
2025 Plans/Goals
- Post more often
- Sew/quilt more
- Spend more time in the studio, less time on the couch/internet
- Retire (?)
