Well, I’ve been away from here longer than I intended to be, mostly because I haven’t done a lot of sewing recently. I spent some time getting my home office in shape, which you can read about here. I gave some thought to doing a complete reset on the kitchen, and even started down that path and I think I’ve decided that it isn’t something I need to do right now. The kitchen is clean, and I’ve found a new home for small appliances, so I think I’m going to back off of that plan for now, and instead focus on something else, like the bedroom. Or quilting.

Quilt Sandwiches
Sandwiching a quilt is my least favorite part of making a quilt, which is why I have nine quilt tops and/or table runners put together but not finished. I don’t know why I have such a mental block against sandwiching quilts, but here we are. I think I went through a period where I didn’t mind it as much, but between the cost of spray adhesive going up so much, and the fact that I don’t really like using spray adhesive in the house, I have returned to using safety pins to baste a quilt, and that is a challenge. I ordered a cutting mat big enough to cover the entire cutting table, and my cutting table top is covered with fabric and batting so it can also be used as an ironing station. That means that when I’m pin basting, I have been known to pin the quilt to the table. Hence, the large mat.

Quilts I’m Working On
I also need to start work on the t-shirt quilt that I’ve had on my table for years. Considering it belongs to someone I worked with, I think I need to get it done pretty soon. I did warn him that it would take a very long time, because I am not inspired to work on quilts that someone else wants me to make, and I have not been wrong in that regard. Still, I want to get it done and back to the owner soon.
I am still working on the Spare Squares quilt, and I am enjoying the process. It’s slow going, mostly because I’m busy with other stuff, but it is fairly easy to make and I am rather enjoying the peace of a simpler quilt. At the very least, I suppose I could be working on this quilt more often so I can get it finished.
